Literature Text

The night crept over the town, filling every little crevice with darkness. It swept over the town with a sedative grace, silently lulling people to sleep without warning. Once it was assured of all mortal slumber, it awoke.  It was crawling with creatures and demons, nocturnal beasts that ravaged through the night. It smelled of blood, of the relentless bloodshed it witnessed each time. The blood seeped deeper, with the night following behind. It rose and screeched, howling with the wolves, at the luminous moon. Smoky clouds lingered in the dark sky, casting its gaze down upon the seemingly dormant town. The night wore a mask of the innocent, but in truth it took the form of a beast, a wretched, horned creature with no mercy for anyone. It grew tentacles, lashing out at night wanderers, devoured souls without cease. It was a thing to fear, but the humans were oblivious to its dangers. And sometimes, it seemed, the night had just reared its head to let out a thunderous roar when the blazing sun appeared just over the horizon. The night hissed in pain and shriveled back, tail between its legs. The night was ravenous monster, but it would never have enough strength to challenge the day.
I wrote this for AP Language & Comp today. Yes, it's like that extended definition that I submitted and no one read.

Except that this is the one I'm turning in.

Night personified. Excellent idea. You should expand it.
